Speakers dinner – Oct 19 at 19:00 BST

Registration starts at 7:30. The program starts at 09:00. We’ll give you the badge at speakers dinner, please, don’t forget it at the hotel/home :) When you arrive to the venue, go to the registration desk (please, don’t wait in line, come directly to the registration desk) and say that you’re a speaker to our volunteers (if I’m not there). They’ll give you your badge (if you don’t get it the night before) and show you to the speakers lounge and stage.

Tech checks – Oct 20

Please, be sure to come to the venue at least 1 hour before your talk, so that we have an opportunity to test your laptop connection. If your talk is before 1st coffee break, then you’ll need to test it before the opening. Other talks need to be tested during a break that comes before it in the schedule. ! Before your talk come to stage 10-15 minutes in advance in order to get the mic on and plug in your laptop.

Your conference flow – Oct 20

First, you present talk (20 min) ⇒ QnA on stage – for speakers with full talks (5-10 min) ⇒ a volunteers guide you to QnA Corner (15 min) ⇒ you continue enjoying the conference 😊

For stage QnA the questions will come through sli.do from in-person & remote attendees.

Lunch, coffee breaks – Oct 20

There will be light breakfast, lunch, coffee breaks, afterparty drinks & nibbles at the venue. Lunch will be served at the speakers lounge room, but feel free to have it together with the attendees in the main catering room, we just don’t want you to wait in lines :) There will be meat, vegan, lactose free, gluten free options.

After the last talk & before the party there’s a break, feel free to go grab dinner at the nearby restaurants & pubs, but do come back at 19:00 :)

Talk & presentation requirements

Duration, slides, resolution of the screen
  • Full talk: 20 min
  • Lightning talk: 5-7 min
  • Slides: since you’ll be connecting your laptop feel free to use any format convenient for you. We do not have any draft for slides or strict design requirements. In case you’d like to add conference logo to the presentation, here it is >> LOGO
  • Screen: 16x9. Resolution: HD.
  • Fonts: it’s important to use readable size of the font as part of the audience will watch the stream. 20-24px should be ok. Here is the example of readable code https://youtu.be/d9nVcDLueMI?t=764 but the font can be even bigger otherwise during the stream remote audience will be struggling to read the slides.

🌎 Logistics

Flight & reimbursement details

Please book the travel tickets yourself and we’ll reimburse the costs after the conference within 2 weeks (let me know if the faster reimbursement is needed). The budget is discussed in our email thread.

For reimbursement please provide the following by Oct 20:

  • receipts of flight booking – needed for our financial report
  • invoice – it should include the following details:
    • terms of payment: 2 weeks
    • our company details: Stichting Frontend Amsterdam Keurenplein 41, Unit A7637, 1069CD Amsterdam, The Netherlands PO Box A7637 VAT NL856244740B01
    • for what: flights to/from the conference
    • your bank details & your full name

! There is also an option to issue invoice via PayPal but please make sure the PayPal invoice also includes you full name, for what your requesting reimbursement.

The hotel and/or flights are covered by your company?

In case your company covers your logistics it can get a status of Conference Partner. In this case we’ll be happy to add company’s logo to the website and tweet about it in group of few more companies!

💬 Conference activities to join (general information)

Talk & QnA

Full talks are 20 min long. After the talk there will be a 5-10 min QnA on stage. The questions will come through sli.do from in-person & remote attendees. Lightning talks are 5-7 minutes long, there won’t be a QnA after them.

Speakers’ QnA corner

Just in-person speaker’s corner – for those who have talks before lunch Where: dedicated Speaker QnA booths in the catering/networking area (the volunteer will guide you). After the QnA on stage our volunteer will take you to a speaker QnA corner, where you’ll be able to continue talking to the attendees in-person = hallway track.

Hybrid speaker’s corner – for those who have talks after lunch Where: dedicated Speaker QnA booths in the catering/networking area (the volunteer will guide you). For those whose talks are after lunch, the setup will be a little different, cause these speaker QnA rooms will be hybrid, and remote attendees will join them too. It’s very important to us to give similar experience for both in-person and remote attendees. In the Speaker QnA Room there will be equipment to connect to virtual space where remote attendees will gather. We’ll show it to you in the venue and explain once again. No worries, there will be a volunteer to help with everything!

Discussion rooms

Where: Entrance to this room is in the Cousteau Track room, on the left side if you face the stage. There will be a rollup banner - hard to miss. Similar setup to hybrid Speakers QnA Rooms: there will be equipment to connect to virtual space where remote attendees will gather. And for sure the in-person attendees also can join you too.

Free workshops

There will be a batch of short remote workshops around main conference days. Feel free to register for any via the LINK.

How to register: your account is already created on GitNation portal as we using this platform for adding speakers to the conference website. You need to restore the password with an email which you’re using for communication with Lera and log in. Then go to the workshops page and register for any session you’re interested in.

Video invitation

Please record 2 short videos. It can be done as simply as with a phone:

Vertical videos, duration – up to 60 sec, answering the following questions:

❗️ Some important notes

  • As you know, this event is hybrid, and we’ll have people from all over the world watching the live stream. There’s a tricky part you should know about :) In order to have as many time zones being able to watch it, we’ll start the live stream at 1:30pm BST (right after lunch), so all talks & QnAs between lunch and closing will be live streamed. The talks between opening and lunch will be recorded together with the QnAs and will be shown right after the last in-person talks. Feel free to say hi to remote audience from stage :)
