React Summit US 2023 Remote Attendee Welcome Guide

Welcome to React Summit US 2023! We are so excited to see you remote!

Let’s create an unforgettable experience that will stay with you for years. To make this possible, please use this guide, so you know all important info & policies that will ensure you have a safe and productive conference!

Interaction via Conference Discord Channels

All the main communication will be in discord. Click here to join the discord channels.

How to connect to discord:

  1. Join Discord server via the link
  2. After joining the server you’ll get a welcome message

  1. You need to go to #🎭pick-your-role channel and pick your event by clicking on the relevant emoji – for React Summit US – 🗽
  2. After that, you will get access to React Summit US channels

  • #❓summit-qna – here you can chat, share your emotions and ask questions to the Summit track speakers

  • #💼rsus-workshops - a channel for workshop participants, where you can find threads for each workshop
Workshops (registration details included)

We will hold workshops before and after the conference. There are two types of workshops: Free workshops and Pro workshops.

Workshops will be run remotely via Zoom. The recordings of most workshops will be shared with full ticket holders after the conference. How to register:

The workshops take place remotely/in person, you can find out more about the workshops here. They are not included in the main ticket, you can buy tickets for them separately via the link.

Certificates

After the second day of the conference, each participant will receive a certificate which will appear in the participant’s GitNation Portal account. You will get the notification in your email address.

Note, to receive a certificate you need to have an account in the GitNation portal.

Talk recording after the conference

All recordings will be placed at the GitNation portal.

Recordings from remote days will be placed right after the conference, in-person recordings - within 1-2 weeks after the conference.

Attendees with Free Tickets will be able to get recordings in a month after the conference.

Our conference is dedicated to providing a harassment-free experience for everyone, regardless of gender, gender identity and expression, age, sexual orientation, disability, physical appearance, body size, race, ethnicity, religion (or lack thereof), or technology choices. We do not tolerate harassment of conference participants in any form. Sexual language and imagery is not appropriate for any conference venue, including talks, workshops, parties, X (Twitter) and other online media. Conference participants violating these rules may be sanctioned or expelled from the conference without a refund at the discretion of the conference organizers.

Non-exclusionary conversations

Most of our attendees work as mid-level or senior software developers. However, juniors and students will also be present at the event. Please remember that you were once one of them, and treat them with respect regardless of experience.

Registration & Schedule Overview

📌  Conference Announcements

We will make various announcements via the #📢rsus-announcements channel on Discord GitNation Tech Communities server. Make sure you’ve joined the Discord server!

📌  Schedule

We will have 2 tracks: Summit & Lightning Camp. Each track will have a different speaker in parallel. The schedule can be found on the website. The times are shown in your local browser's time zone.

📌  Speaker Q&A rooms

Some speakers will have hybrid QnA rooms after their talks where you will be able to talk to them.

Location: Spatial.chat (you'll be able to join the discussion room from the watch page by clicking on a corresponding item on our timeline placed under player).

📌  Discussion Rooms

On November 13 we’ll have 2 discussion rooms:

  • AI Engineering - 11:15 EST
  • React Server Components - 13:50 EST
  • Career / Life Balance - 14:55 EST

How to join Speaker / Discussion rooms?

You can join a speaker/discussion room in two ways:

By Watch page

Go to the watch page –> Click on the discussion room button on the timeline –> Go to Spatial.chat and in the rooms list on the right find the room named "Discussion Room" and click on it to join.

By Spatial.chat

You can join Spatial.chat via the link on the Watch page above the player. When you join the platform just find the room named "Discussion Room or Speakers Room" in the rooms list on the right and click on it to join.

After each talk, you will be able to ask questions to speakers on Discord:

On November 15 we’ll have 3 discussion rooms:

  • Typescript - 14:20 EST
  • Design Systems - 15:30 EST
