JSNation 2024 Attendee Welcome Guide

Welcome to JSNation 2024! We are so excited to have you! Use this guide, so you know all the important info & policies that will ensure you have a safe and productive and amazing conference!

💻 Workshops

We will hold workshops before and after the conference. There are two types of workshops: free workshops and pro workshops.

Free Workshops

The workshops take place remotely. To take part in the workshop you have to register separately via the GitNation portal.

Pro-workshops

The workshops take place in person and online, you can find out more about the workshops here. They are not included in the main ticket, you can buy tickets for them separately. If you buy a ticket, you will receive an email with full information.

🎊 Pre-Party & Badge Pick Up / June 12

On June 12 we’ll have a special pre-party for conference attendees. You are invited to Lowlander Botanical Bar & Restaurant - Located on the waterfront, Gedempt Hamerkanaal 201, 1021 KP Amsterdam, Netherlands, starting at 18:00 CEST. !!! You will receive your conference badge there.

📅 JSNation Day 1 - What Will Happen

Registration / Start at 7:00 CEST

Prior to the conference, you will receive an email with information about the time window in which you will be able to register as a conference participant. We kindly ask you to show up at the venue at the designated time, otherwise, we will not be able to register you before the first talk, which will cause missing it.

We will have 2 tracks: Community Track & Residents Track. Each track will have a different speaker in parallel.

Speaker QnA spots

After each talk, you will be able to ask questions to the speakers in-person. We’ll have a dedicated Speaker Q&A spot. Head there after the onstage Q&A to ask your questions to the speaker personally. Location: look for the black booth with Speaker Q&A banner between the two halls. !!! The speaker Q&A room will be hybrid, meaning that remote attendees will also be able to join via the watch page.

Discussion Room

On June 13 we’ll have 3 discussion rooms:

  • 14:30-15:10 - OSS – Has the Model Become Unsustainable?
  • 15:30-16:10 - AI – Using AI During Development, What’s the Future of Development Going to Be, etc.
  • 16:30-17:10 - Growth Path

Find the exact schedule on the conference website. Location: 2nd floor – look for Discussion room signs and arrows. !!! The discussion rooms will be hybrid as well, meaning that remote attendees will also be able to join via ZOOM (link to ZOOM can be found on the watch page).

Stamps Hunt - complete the quest and win a prize 🏆

We’ll have a game during the day. Visit 7 stations for fun activities. Collect stamps with GitNation volunteers and turn in your card at the registration area before 16:30 CEST. The winners will be announced before the last talk in Community Track and will get the prizes! Prizes: t-shirts, mugs, Airpods Max and many more!

Parking at the venue

The Kromhouthal has 80 private parking spots right in front of the door. In addition, there’s ample public parking in the vicinity. There is paid parking in the area.

Ferries Service

Travel to the venue in Amsterdam style, by boat! We will have a continuous shuttle service in the morning. If you’ve missed one, you can either wait for the next (30 minutes) or take the metro from Central Station or the public ferry from Central Station going to IJplein. Look for a ferry with the JSNation flag.

Other info

Wi-Fi: This year, there won't be WiFi available at the venue. Given a large number of people, the wifi has been always unstable. Therefore, we've devised an alternative solution: you can buy Esim with a 15% discount using promo code GITNATION15 at Airalo.

Lost & found: If you find an item that is on its own (bag, laptop, phone, etc), please do the right thing and bring it to the organizers or volunteers at the registration desk, they will find the owner of the item.

Wheelchair access: The majority of the area you will need to access is paved. There are wheelchair-accessible tables in the venue and an elevator to get to the discussion room.

Filming & Photography: A professional crew will be taking photos and videos at the event for future promotion of the event. If you don’t want to appear in the photos or videos, ask for a black lanyard at the reception desk. The stage talks will be photographed, recorded, and streamed live on the Watch page. Talk recordings will be provided to full-access attendees within 1-2 weeks after the conference.

😋 Food & Beverage

Breakfast

Yogurt + granola, yogurt + fruits (gluten-free, vegan optional), Pancake bar: fresh fruit and maple syrup. Coffee, tea, water

Сoffee break:

A mix of fresh fruits, cereal bars, candies, veggie crisps, pop corn low calories and homemade banana bread. Coffee, tea, water

Lunch

There will be 2 main food areas where you can grab lunch: one inside at catering spots around the venue, and another outside, to the left of the entrance. Note, that you don’t need to pick one of the options, you can have both within a day. Please note: food inside is included with your ticket; no extra payment is needed. Outside, you can exchange a food ticket for one free lunch set

🛶 Hangout Day / June 15

Spend time with the community and network with conference participants and speakers in boat and walking tours on June 15.

The number of seats is limited and if you registered, but decided not to go, it's important to inform us about it, cause there's a waiting list of people who couldn't get a place on tour.
