General Program, June 12-18

June 12, 18:00-21:00 CEST ➡️  in-person pre-party with conference attendees in Amsterdam.

June 13, full day ➡️  JSNation conference*, React Ecosystem Contributors Summit & speakers dinner in the evening.

June 14, full day ➡️  React Summit & afterparty in the evening

June 15, 10:00-13:00 CEST ➡️  Hangout Day: city 🚲 tour & picnic in the park; C3 Dev Fest*

June 17 & 18, 16:00-21:00 CEST ➡️  fully remote days of JSNation & React Summit.

✈️ Logistics

Flight & reimbursement details

Please book the travel tickets yourself and we’ll reimburse the costs after the conference within 2 weeks. The budget was discussed in our email thread.

For reimbursement please provide the following by June 12:

  • receipts of flight booking – needed for our financial report
  • invoice – should include the following details:
    • terms of payment: 2 weeks
    • our company details: Stichting Frontend Amsterdam Keurenplein 41, Unit A7637, 1069CD Amsterdam, The Netherlands PO Box A7637 VAT NL856244740B01
    • for what: flights to/from the conference
    • your bank details, address & your full name

! There is also an option to issue invoice via PayPal but please make sure the PayPal invoice also includes you full name, what you’re requesting reimbursement for. The invoice should be sent to [email protected].


If the hotel is on us, you have already received a separate calendar invite with address (or will receive soon). Booking confirmation will be attached a bit closer to the event.

There are two hotels booked for speakers:

Airport <> Hotel
  • to Kapitein Anna: 1 - train to Central Station 2 - free Ferry F4 to NDSM pier
  • to Holiday Inn 1 - train to Central Station 2a - free Ferry to IJPlein + 10 min walk 2b - metro to Noordepark + 8 min walk
Conference venue & getting to the venue

If you stay at Holiday Inn – just walk to the venue, it’s 5 min walk. If you stay at Kapitein Anna ship – we’ll have another ship to transfer you in the morning from the pier to the venue. Please, be at pick-up point at 7:50am.

The hotel and/or flights are covered by your company?

In case your company covers your logistics it can get a status of Conference Partner. In this case we’ll be happy to add company’s logo to the website and tweet about it in group of few more companies!

🎡 Conference activities to join (general information)

Talk & Q&A

Full talks are 20 min long. After the talk there will be a 5-10 min QnA on stage. The questions will come through from in-person & remote attendees. MC will address these questions to speakers. Lightning talks are 5-7 minutes long, there won’t be a QnA after them.

Speakers’ Q&A corner

Each speaker with full talk will have Q&A after onstage Q&A session in case attendees have more questions.

Discussion rooms

There will be 2 discussion rooms in parallel with talks:

  • 14:55-15:25 Career Growth
  • 16:20-16:50 Maintaining a Library and a Community

The discussions will be held in a separate room. There will be equipment to connect to virtual space where remote attendees will gather. And for sure the in-person attendees also can join.

We’ll have remote discussion rooms on June 18 as well:

Free workshops

There will be a batch of short remote workshops before & after the main conference days. Feel free to register for any via the LINK.

🎙Talk & presentation requirements

Duration, slides, resolution of the screen, fonts
  • Duration:
    • Full talk: 20 min
    • Lightning talk: 5-7 min
  • Slides: since you’ll be connecting your laptop feel free to use any format convenient for you. We do not have any draft for slides or strict design requirements. But, we’d recommend to prepare your presentation in dark mode as the screen is bright. In case you’d like to add conference logo to the presentation, here it is >> LOGO. Screen: 16x9. Resolution: HD.
  • Fonts: it’s important to use readable size of the font as part of the audience will watch the stream. 20-24px should be ok. Here is the example of readable code but the font can be even bigger otherwise during the stream remote audience will be struggling to read the slides.

June 12: Pre-Party

You are invited to Oedipus Brewing - Gedempt Hamerkanaal 85, 1021 KP Amsterdam, Netherlands, starting at 18:00 CEST. The place is right next to the hotel / behind the conference venue.

June 13: React Ecosystem Contributors Summit

React Ecosystem Contributors Summit page. You’re very welcome to participate! Just let Daria know in advance! We’ll start at 15:00, and the meeting will last for 3 hours.

June 13, 19:00 CEST: Speakers dinner 🥘

Where: Kapitein Anna ship (NDSM-pier 6, 1033 RE Amsterdam North) Unfortunately, we can’t accommodate +1s at the dinner, as the ship has limited capacity. ! RSVP, whether you’ll join the dinner.

If you’re running late, mind that the ship will be departing for a cruise at 20:30, so don’t be too late :)

June 14: React Summit - Schedule & registration

Registration starts at 7:00. The program starts at 09:00. When you arrive to the venue, go to the registration desk (please, don’t wait in line, come directly to the registration desk) and say that you’re a speaker to our volunteers (if Daria is not there). They’ll give you your badge and show you to the speakers lounge and stage.

June 14: Tech checks

Please, be sure to come to the venue at least 1 hour before your talk, so that we have an opportunity to test your laptop connection. If your talk is before the lunch, then you’ll need to test it before the opening or during the 1st coffee break. Other talks need to be tested during the lunch. ! Before your talk come to stage 10-15 minutes in advance in order to get the mic on and plug in your laptop.

June 14: Your conference flow

First, you present talk ⇒ Q&A on stage (for speakers with full talks) ⇒ our volunteer will guide you to Q&A Corner ⇒ you continue enjoying the conference 😊

June 14: Discussion Rooms agenda (hybrid)

June 14: Join stage during closing ceremony for a team photo

Please, come to the main stage during the last Q&A (at around 17:50) and come up stage when MCs announce “speakers on stage”!

June 14: Afterparty 💃 🕺
  • We’ll have a 1.5h break after the last talk and the party. There will be food trucks at the waterfront terrace, where you can grab dinner (you’ll have tokens for them). At 19:30 the party starts! 🥳  Food & drinks: open bar, finger food. Activities: DJs, coding artists, silent disco, karaoke, networking at the terrace (no loud music).

June 13&14: Lunch, coffee breaks 🥘 ☕️

There will be light breakfast, lunch, coffee breaks, food trucks at the venue. Lunch will be served at the speakers lounge room, but feel free to have it together with the attendees in the main catering room/food truck area, we just don’t want you to wait in lines! There will be meat, vegan, lactose free, gluten free options.

After the last talk & before the party there’s a break, feel free to grab dinner at one of the food trucks - you’ll have a special token for a meal there.

June 15, 10:00 CEST: Explore Amsterdam 🚲 

This year we’re arranging city bike tour & picnic for our speakers! Hope you’ll enjoy this part of the conference.

All the details will be shared a bit later.

June 15, all day & night: C3 Dev Fest

As mentioned before, you’re welcome to join C3 Dev Fest after the speakers tour and brunch. Check out the day and party program on the website.

❗️ Some important notes

  • As you know, this event is hybrid, and we’ll have people from all over the world watching the live stream. There’s a tricky part you should know about :) In order to have as many time zones being able to watch it, we’ll start the live stream at 14:20 CEST (right after lunch), so all talks & QnAs between lunch and closing will be live streamed. The talks between opening and lunch will be recorded together with the QnAs and will be shown right after the last in-person talks. Feel free to say hi to remote audience from stage :)
